Indian Council of Agriculture Research has started this Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Kaushambi with the aim to serve the farming community of district and improve their economic status.
Kaushambi is economically one of the most under developed district of Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on the Southern bank of river Ganga in Allahabad division. It is surrounded by Allahabad on the east, Fathepur in the west, Chitrakoot on the north and Pratapgarh on the south. Its geographical area is 1823.8 sq. km. and lies in central plain Agro climatic zone. The district comprises three subdivisions and divided into eight Development blocks.
Within a short span of few months as per our mandate we have started training to the farmers and farmwomen and vocational trainings to the rural youths. Latest agricultural technologies were demonstrated at the farmer’s field through front line demonstrations. Stress has been given to promote integrated crop management in pulses and oilseeds keeping their importance in present agriculture. Nevertheless Resource Conservation Technologies in rice-wheat system is also been promoted; particularly direct seeding of rice, zero tillage in wheat and use of bio fertilizers in agriculture.
The technologies developed at national research institutes are refined as per the needs of the farmers of district Kaushambi under On Farm Trials. We have refined the crop establishment technologies for rice and wheat, integrated nutrient management and integrated pest management for major crops.
